I goofed off in college up until now, and I have a year left. If I get straight A's (I can do it!) I'll have a cumulative GPA of 3.2. But if anyone looks at my transcripts, they'll see I failed some classes, although I will be re-taking them so that only the new grade counts towards my GPA. Will the F's get in the way of a solid GPA? I'm majoring in Business Management Economics, and I want to work in Financial Services.Do employers look at your transcripts, or just your GPA?
I have been out of college for over 10 years and very few employers have asked for my transcripts. The only ones that did were those who wanted to ensure I had the credits; some required 60, some a BA, so they wanted be certain I had the education. I doubt they even looked at my actual classes. I have seen job ads where they asked for transcripts showing specific subject credits, so that may be a case where they will look more deeply. Again, this seems to be rare.
I have a very high GPA, along with multiple honors and awards. I would say less than 10 people ever remarked about this. It is really appalling, because here I sit, unemployed, while 3 of my cousins, who barely made it through school, are each making close to 6 figures. This is true with many more people I know. Sadly, you will find that who you know is MUCH more important than what you know. It makes me sick.
There are federal government jobs where you can apply if you have graduated with a certain GPA. I also had a few interviews with lawyers, and they liked my honors. Other than that, no one cares, really.

If you're just coming out of college they also look at the transcript.
they look at both. i have been out of high school since 1979 and am still embarrassed that employers can look at my underachieving attitude so many years ago.
