Legal question? Involving school, credits, transcripts, and graduating/going to college. ideas?

If someone were to move from another country (like Australia) and not have enough credits to graduate high school here (the US) and faked their old transcripts from their old high school to then obtain the US high school diploma (and got it). AND is now applying for colleges/community colleges with basically fake credentials. What would happen to that person legally if caught.

*all above is hypothetical. so give me maybes, hypotheticals, or just flat out fact. thank you.Legal question? Involving school, credits, transcripts, and graduating/going to college. ideas?
Hypothetically, it would probably qualify as forgery in most states. Forgery is a felony offense in most of the states, not a good way to start off your adult life.
